Here Are the Best Gifts for Natural and Curly Haired Ladies
Posted on December 03 2018
It seems way too soon, but it is definitely that time of the year again, the glorious holiday season. If you’re like me, you likely have lots of friends and relatives who are wearing their natural textures, and thus a gift to support them in their journey would likely be greatly appreciated. Need some ideas on what that gift might be? Read on as we present some suggestions for gifts that any naturalista or curly girl would love.

This comb is the next best thing to finger detangling, for people like me who just can’t be bothered. It gets out knots and clumps with a minimum of hair loss, which can be comforting for those who are transitioning or trying to grow out their hair. It’s a bit pricey, but I’ve had mine for five years, and I believe in paying more for things that don’t have to be constantly replaced.
Again, this is not a budget product, likely because it is one of the most fabulous conditioners I’ve found for textured hair. But if you’re looking for a gift that will be appreciated all year long, this is it. A little bit of this highly hydrating, silky mask goes a long way- I’ve been able to stretch a jar as long as 8 months, doing weekly deep conditioning treatments. For full effect, have your giftee heat the conditioner in some warm water or sit under a hot dryer for the softest, most conditioned curls you can imagine, in the most fabulous scent to boot.
This would be an excellent stocking stuffer for a young girl just starting out in her own hair journey. I’ve used this brush daily on my daughter for the last several years, without any of the tears or tantrums I used to have during my own childhood detangling sessions (perhaps because, believe it or not, this is what my mom would use to detangle my hair. Yep, no surprise that I jumped on the relaxer bandwagon as soon as I became a teenager). I also use it myself to detangle on wash days. A must for every curly girl, particularly when paired with the Hercules Sagemann comb above.
As any naturalista (or really, anyone with hair) can attest, there comes a day when you really can’t be bothered with styling your hair, but you still have to get out the door. A great silk scarf is my best friend on those days. It can worn as a chic bandana around your hair, folded into a headband to hide frizzy edges, or wrapped around a bun for a sophisticated updo. You’ll look styled and polished, with almost no effort. Echo scarves are some of my favorites because they come in a wide range of prints, but don’t cost a fortune.
At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter what products you use to style or care for your hair if it’s not being adequately protected. Sumo Bonnets are made from high quality materials in beautiful prints designed to protect your hair for the long haul. Try one of our metallic butterfly prints for a truly divine present that any textured lady would love to find under the tree.
So there you go, five ideas for what to give to the curly or natural women in your life. How about you? What hair gift would you LOVE to find under the tree this year?
